My scaleup story: Richard Few, Sales Geek

Q
How did you know you were ready to scale and why did you apply for Two Zero?
A

Sales Geek helps salespeople and business owners ethically sell more products and services by better understanding their customers, their products and theirselves.

We have been on a steep growth curve during our first three years which has seen triple figure percent growth and we have ambitions to continue that rate of growth despite the current economic conditions. To do this we need to work on some areas of the business and also expose ourselves to things we don’t know yet!

Q
What have you learned through the programme and how has your business grown or changed since being involved?
A

As CEO, I have always been outward looking and growth focused but I met some great business leaders through the process who were operationally very organised and it’s helped me and the team see how we can drive improvements in our operational excellence.

Q
How did coronavirus challenge your business and how did Two Zero help to manage that?
A

Coronavirus, ultimately, has caused a level of uncertainty for all businesses so being able to spend time with other business leaders in the same boat was great. We have used the time through lockdown to build new products and ‘sharpen the axe’ so the help from Two Zero in the final stages to help launch those products has been hugely valuable.

Q
What’s your plan for the next three years?
A

We have a strategic objective to grow our audience on our digital product set to reach a revenue split of 70 percent digital and 30 percent live delivery. It’s a better training solution for our clients and enables us to achieve our mission or changing the way the world perceives sales.

Q
What are your top three tips for companies who want to scale their business?
A
  1. Be brave! Nothing happens without you taking action.
  2. Don’t wait for things to be perfect. Just do it!
  3. Get external perspective. You don’t know what you don’t know so reach out to people that have the experience you don’t have and learn from them.
