Brilliant Trees Media is an established Royal Television Society award winning TV and video content company based in Lancashire. We’ve produced documentary series for ITV and single documentaries for the BBC and also work with local and national businesses on large and small scale TV advertising and video marketing.
We recently launched our online video training courses and I’d been thinking about scaling for a long time and kept trying and hitting the same stumbling blocks.
I felt I needed a fresh approach and a new set of eyes to help me see things differently. Even though turnover was growing I could not seem to make the bigger jump in growth to the next level I could see my business achieving. I applied to Two Zero to see how to make those next steps.
I learned loads through the programme. It really opened my eyes to different ways of thinking about many different aspects of my business. From taking on funding to growing my team. The mentors and the other peers involved were also really valuable and I was able to take away learning from every session.
Since then I have taken on some funding and doubled the size of my company in terms of people but more importantly my ambitions are much more focused and I now have a plan in place to help me achieve my growth plans.
Coronavirus did challenge my business. One of our biggest contracts delivering an events schedule for a national company had to stop mid way through. The Two Zero programme actually came at a really good time for me as I was really able to take some time out of my business and actually focus on my business which is something I had rarely done.
Our plans for the next three years are to continue with our plans for growth. We are currently investing in development of our core content. We are building a new slate and fresh relationships with commissioners to expand into broadcast platforms and territories in the UK and internationally which will help us expand significantly.
We have also pivoted our video offering and developed training and leaning modules which we have just started to roll out.
My top three tips would be :
- Explore funding and how it can help you achieve things more quickly. Take some time out of working in your business and spend some time on your business plans
- Get on a trusted programme like Two Zero where you can get help, support, advice and best practices and where you can learn from each other and experts who have done it before
- Go for it!
